Hi! My name is Allison Chi, and I’m a senior at Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware. At my non-profit foundation NextGen LaunchPad which has partnered with the English tutoring non-profit HuiShuo English (HSE), I'm working hard with my team to improve literacy in my community. As a tutor at West End Neighborhood House and UrbanPromise, I help young readers from the inner city grow through the Science of Reading (SoR). As Regional Director at The Borgen Project, I mobilize my community to take action on ending global poverty. To me, a world where children can’t access the power of books or where people survive on less than $2.15 a day is simply unacceptable.
At school, I serve as a literacy coach for my second-grade Book Buddy and as my grade’s Service Board representative. Outside the classroom, I am a record-holding First Team All-State cross country / track athlete and an avid clarinetist. When I’m not racing through state parks (sometimes in torrential rain), you'll likely find me tucked into a cozy corner immersed in a novel.
We're stronger together. Come join me in my mission to end illiteracy and poverty.
I look forward to hearing from you!
